What's happening @ REVIEW FOR RELIGIOUS in 2012

When the January-March 2012 issue of Review for Religious comes off the press, you will notice that it has a new look. But it is only one change among many others that have resulted from a long series of discussions in which we have been engaged over the recent months. As is the case with many publications, we have been struggling for some time with increased printing and mailing costs coupled with declining circulation. So we have been exploring our options and making some major decisions about the future of our journal. A brief summary of those decisions follows. Please read the editor’s column “Prisms” (by clicking on the image of the cover below) for more details

• We are currently exploring the possibility of transferring responsibility for the journal to another Jesuit institution and are excited about the possibilities that are under consideration. While these discussions continue, Review for Religious will suspend publication and put a moratorium on new subscriptions or renewals until a decision is finalized.

• We are in the process of digitizing the entire collection of past issues so that every article, book review, and poem we have ever published will be available online. We feel that this will be an invaluable resource for researchers who want to document religious life during the decades leading up to and following Vatican Council II.

• Please send your e-mail address to reviresponses@gmail.com so we can keep you informed about how to find us in the future. We will post information about the progress of our discussions on this website as it becomes available, and we will notify all subscribers about our future once it has been determined.

Thank you for your interest in and support of Review for Religious over the years.

Please pray for and with us as we continue our discernment about our future.

Sincerely,
The Editors

In Memoriam

Father David L. Fleming SJ, editor of Review for Religious for the past 23 years, died on March 22, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. We the staff are grateful for having the opportunity to have worked with Father Dave. We were blessed by his gentle care, humility, and generosity. We carry in our hearts memories of shared accomplishments and trials, and of many celebrations, great and small, of the blessings in our life and work. For him all was sacrament—a visible sign of God's grace.
